Many asylum seeker and refugee children have no access to Thailand’s Education for all policy due to the language barriers and resources. Even if they could, these children aged between 15 and 17 years old fall through the cracks as they are unable to integrate into Thai public schooling. Their exclusion from education and a safe environment during their formative years in Bangkok raises concerns on protection and psychosocial well-being.
The Urban Education Project has started allowed increase access to formal and informal education as well as offering educational guidance and counselling to the refugees’ communities, and providing financial assistance and scholarships.
