JRS Response to COVID-19 pandemic in the region

JRS recognised that there was an urgent need to provide assistance and protection to the refugees, IDPs (Internal Displaced Person), asylum seekers and vulnerable populations in the camps, urban and remote settings when the COVID pandemic started early this year.

Our JRS Asia Pacific office distributed safety materials and equipment and disseminated COVID 19 information materials in the communities’ native language to increase awareness. Emergency aid was also given for food, shelter, rent and basic needs. Emotional, mental and social support was established with hotlines for counselling, casework and conversations for the communities, as well as for the JRS refugee and IDP staff.

With the necessary precautions taken, school has re-started in Mae Hong Son camp! Many thanks to CHARIS for their generous support and donation towards JRS projects in the region especially during this difficult COVID period.
